Gene Feldman and Max Gartenberg first met in Detroit when they both had brief academic careers in the English Department at Wayne State University
Both were native New Yorkers and both soon returned to the city—Max setting up shop as a literary agent and Gene as an educational filmmaker and writer for television. They remained lifelong friends.
