Charles Einstein was born August 2, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended the University of Chicago and started working for International News Service, which would eventually become part of UPI. While there he wrote his first novel, The Bloody Spur, based on the crimes of a university student labeled "The Lipstick Killer." Einstein moved to San Francisco in the late '50s to work for the Examiner where he began covering the Giants and became friends with Willie Mays, co‐authoring his memoir. He went on to write more novels as well as an episode of Lou Grant. Einstein is best known as a veteran newsman, novelist, sportswriter and TV writer, but he is also the half‐brother of actor‐director Albert Brooks and comedian "Super‐Dave Osborne." In semi‐retirement, Einstein moved back East and returned to news writing. He died on March 7, 2007, in Michigan City, Indiana.
