Michael Fessier was born November 6, 1905, in Angels Camp, California. At 13 he began his newspaper career as a printer's devil for the Bakersfield Californian, working his way to reporter for various papers until he began writing for the pulps. Fessier quit his position as editor of the San Rafael Independent Journal when Hollywood offered him a job as a screenwriter. He wrote over 200 short stories and 29 screenplays—including You'll Never Get Rich and You Were Never Lovlier with Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth—but only two novels. In 1961, he married British actress Lilian Bond. Later in his career he wrote for television shows such as Bonanza, Lost in Space, Mister Ed, Gilligan's Island, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Fessier died on September 19, 1988, in Northridge, Los Angeles.
