Marcia Muller was born September 28, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated in English from the University of Michigan and worked as a journalist at Sunset magazine. In 1977 she published her first Sharon McCone mystery, Edwin of the Iron Shoes, which she has since turned into a successful series of 36 books. Muller is married to fellow detective fiction author Bill Pronzini, with whom she has collaborated on several novels and short stories. In 1993, Muller was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Private Eye Writers of America; in 2005 she was named Grand Master of the Mystery Writers of America; and in 2010 she won the Shamus Award for best novel for Locked In.
